WarDragon Pro

Integrated SDR-Based Drone Detection, RF Sensing & Data Integration Platform

The WarDragon Pro is a compact, headless, SDR-driven system designed to provide
real-time drone detection, Remote ID decoding, spectrum awareness, and sensor data integration
in a single, portable platform.

Built on DragonOS, WarDragon Pro is engineered as an RF sensing and data integration appliance,
not a general-purpose PC. It combines dedicated radios, software-defined radio (SDR) capability,
GPS, and purpose-built software workflows into a unified system capable of operating standalone
or as part of a larger situational awareness or automation environment.

Complete Drone Detection & Remote ID Coverage

WarDragon Pro provides comprehensive coverage across all FAA-defined Remote ID transmission methods
while extending detection capability beyond Remote ID alone.

  • Bluetooth Remote ID: Dedicated DragonTooth Bluetooth dongle running
Sniffle-based firmware for decoding FAA Bluetooth Remote ID signals.
  • Bluetooth 5 Long Range (LR) Remote ID Detection:
Support for extended-range Bluetooth Remote ID transmissions. Many Remote ID receivers
detect only standard Bluetooth advertising; WarDragon Pro is capable of detecting
Bluetooth Long Range RID beacons used to extend operational range.
  • Wi-Fi Remote ID (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz):
A custom ESP32-based Wi-Fi Remote ID module paired with a dual-band Panda Wireless adapter
provides full coverage of Wi-Fi RID beacons across both frequency bands defined in FAA standards.

Unlike systems limited to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi beacon decoding alone, WarDragon Pro incorporates
software-defined radio techniques to detect and analyze proprietary drone identification signals
that are not broadcast as standard Remote ID.

High-Performance SDR & Spectrum Awareness

At the core of WarDragon Pro is the ANTSDR E200, a high-performance,
general-purpose software-defined radio capable of monitoring RF activity from approximately
70 MHz to 6 GHz.

  • Wideband spectrum monitoring and analysis
  • Detection and decoding of DJI DroneID (Ocusync 2 and most Ocusync 3)
  • Detection of Ocusync 4 activity
  • General-purpose SDR experimentation, signal analysis, and research workflows

The ANTSDR E200 may be dynamically repurposed for additional sensing tasks such as
ADS-B aircraft detection, with Cursor-on-Target (CoT) messages transmitted
directly into TAK environments. Alternatively, ADS-B functionality may be provided by
connecting an external SDR, allowing the internal SDR to remain dedicated to other workflows.

FPV Analog Drone Detection (Coming Soon)

WarDragon Pro is actively gaining DSP-assisted analog FPV drone detection.
This capability focuses on identifying analog FPV video signals using real-time digital
signal processing techniques rather than simple energy or noise detection.

This approach enables improved confidence in FPV drone presence, frequency identification,
and provides the foundation for future classification and signal characterization enhancements.

TAK & Situational Awareness Integration

WarDragon Pro integrates out of the box with the TAK ecosystem, including
ATAK, iTAK, WinTAK, and TAK Server.

The system publishes Cursor-on-Target (CoT) messages for:

  • Drone detections and Remote ID telemetry
  • ADS-B aircraft tracks
  • KrakenSDR lines of bearing (when an external KrakenSDR is connected)
  • Kismet wireless detections
  • System GPS position and sensor metadata

Coming Soon: The WarDragon ATAK Companion App, currently under
active development, will provide tighter integration between ATAK and WarDragon for improved
visibility, system status, and future control workflows.

Data Integration, Automation & Sensor Fusion

WarDragon Pro is designed not only to detect RF activity, but to
ingest, normalize, correlate, and distribute sensor data
across multiple systems and workflows.

Rather than acting as a closed appliance, WarDragon Pro functions as a
sensor and data integration node capable of feeding both
tactical platforms and civilian automation systems.

MQTT & Event-Based Data Distribution

WarDragon Pro supports MQTT-based data publishing for RF, drone,
and system events. This enables lightweight, event-driven integration with
dashboards, alerting systems, logging pipelines, and automation frameworks.

MQTT topics may include identifiers such as drone IDs, signal attributes,
geolocation data, and system status, allowing downstream systems to
subscribe only to the information they require.

Kismet API Ingestion & Wireless Correlation

Wireless data from Kismet is ingested via its API and treated as
a first-class sensor input. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth observations may be correlated
with SDR-based detections to provide richer situational context rather than
isolated alerts.

Identifier-Based Filtering & Correlation

Detected signals and devices may be filtered, matched, and correlated based on
a variety of identifiers and observable attributes, such as:

  • Remote ID fields
  • Protocol characteristics
  • Frequency and bandwidth
  • Observed behavior over time

This enables higher-level logic such as alerting, tagging, suppression,
or escalation based on observed patterns rather than raw detections.

Integration with External Platforms

In addition to TAK integration, architectural steps have been taken to support
data exchange with higher-level platforms such as Anduril’s Lattice,
allowing WarDragon Pro to function as an edge sensor feeding larger situational
awareness systems.

For civilian and infrastructure-focused use cases, WarDragon Pro may also
integrate with platforms such as Home Assistant via MQTT or API-based
workflows, enabling automation, logging, and visualization of RF events in
non-tactical environments.

Extensible by Design

WarDragon Pro is not locked to a fixed sensor configuration. Additional
capabilities may be added by connecting external SDRs and sensors without
replacing the core system.

  • External KrakenSDR for direction finding and geolocation
  • Additional SDRs for parallel RF workflows
  • Dedicated ADS-B receivers if the internal SDR is allocated elsewhere

This modular architecture allows WarDragon Pro to evolve as mission or
infrastructure requirements change without requiring a complete system redesign.
