What happens to a unit when its DragonScope term ends, how renewal works, and what to do if you replace the sensor. The governing text is the DragonScope Service Agreement; this article summarizes it.
The term
A DragonScope license covers one physical sensor for twelve months from the date of activation and renews on the same calendar day each year. A renewal offer is sent at least thirty days before the term ends. Nothing renews silently — you act on the offer or the term lapses.
When the term ends
The service stops accepting decode requests from the sensor. On the unit, nothing else changes: every baseline capability continues exactly as before, and an OcuSync 4 aircraft is still detected with a per-flight identifier and a distance estimate. What stops is decoded OcuSync 4 telemetry and serial numbers. The unit behaves the same as one that never had DragonScope — the same state described in DragonScope and internet connectivity.
Note No software is removed and no configuration is lost when a term ends. Renewing restores decoding without reinstalling anything.
Ending early
You may end the service on thirty days’ written notice through the support page. Prepaid fees for the rest of the term are not refunded except where the agreement says otherwise. After termination the service rejects further decode requests within twenty-four hours, and you may request a summary of your usage history for the preceding twelve months at no charge.
Monthly allowance
Each license carries a monthly decode allowance, sized well above normal operational use. If a sensor exceeds it, decode requests return empty until the allowance resets at the start of the next month; the unit keeps running. Deployments that need sustained higher throughput can request an Enterprise license through the contact form.
Replacing the sensor
A license binds to the first sensor that uses it. If that hardware is replaced or refreshed, open a request through the support page and the license is unbound so the replacement can take it over. Occasional rebinds are included; moving one license between several sensors is not permitted.
