The operational problem

Drone activity over an active scene, with no reliable way to tell news media from anything else.

Requests for airspace awareness at events the agency did not plan for and cannot prepare a site for.

The cost is a decision made without information, on a clock. A commander who cannot say whether the aircraft over a scene is a news crew, a bystander, or something else has to treat it as all three at once, which means either an overreaction that consumes units or an underreaction nobody wants to explain afterward.

The unverifiable report is the quieter cost. A call that cannot be confirmed does not become a case, does not become a pattern, and does not become the basis for asking for anything. Over a year an agency accumulates a file of activity it cannot describe.

What WarDragon delivers against it

What connects those is that command staff are asked to decide without information. The system supplies it in the field, at the time.

Detection where the team is. Continuous monitoring across the standards drones actually use, deployed from a vehicle or command post in minutes with no installation at the location.

Aircraft and operator. Baseline detection identifies a flight and correlates it. With DragonScope it also reports serial number, pilot location, and takeoff point, which turns a detection into somewhere to send a unit.

Something that survives the shift. Each flight is logged with a unique identifier, so a report can be verified, documented, and followed up rather than filed as unconfirmed.

Works off-network. Detection runs entirely on the device, so it functions where there is no reliable cellular coverage and does not depend on a subscription remaining active.

Coverage is not limited to Remote ID. WarDragon receives Remote ID broadcasts over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, identifies DJI OcuSync activity, and on Elite kits covers FPV control and video links and open telemetry standards through a second software-defined radio. The demodulation library grows with each software release and reaches kits already in the field.

Detection distance comes from antenna selection, height, placement, line of sight, and the RF environment rather than from the processor inside the kit. Antennas are specified per site.

What it will not do

It does not jam, disable, take control of, or otherwise interfere with an aircraft. Detection is passive; the system only listens.

It does not detect an aircraft that transmits nothing at all. A fully autonomous flight with no control link is outside the reach of RF detection of any kind, ours included. Radar is the answer to that class of aircraft.

It does not determine intent, and it does not decide anything. Output is a detection record delivered to the systems you already run.

It does not identify who is at the controls. It reports what the aircraft transmits, and with DragonScope where the operator is, which is not the same as knowing who they are.

Specifying a system for an agency

Public safety work moves between locations, so the Mobile configuration is usually the appropriate starting point. It ships in a hardened carry case, is deployable by the personnel using it, and runs on vehicle DC power or 120V AC.

The Elite tier adds x86 processing and a second software-defined radio, extending coverage to FPV control and video links and open telemetry standards, with headroom to correlate on the device. Specify Elite where aircraft operating outside Remote ID are part of what the agency expects to encounter. The second radio is fitted at manufacture and is not a later addition.

Covering a jurisdiction is a question of where units are positioned and which antennas are fitted, not which processor is inside them. Coverage extends through antenna packages, or by adding nodes and aggregating them centrally into one picture. Agencies that also need standing coverage of a headquarters or evidence facility often pair a Mobile unit with a Drop-In system.

Detection is included with the kit and stays included, with no recurring fee and no connection to our servers. DragonScope is a separate capability rather than an unlock: it decodes encrypted DJI identification, including OcuSync 4, adding serial-number attribution and pilot location where the transmission carries it. An agency that needs somewhere to send a unit adds it. An agency that needs to know what is over the scene does not.

It reports into what you already run.

Detections belong in the operating picture the agency already runs, not in software bought from the vendor who sold the sensor. Output is CoT into TAK or an endpoint of the agency’s choosing, detection itself carries no recurring fee, and nothing depends on a cloud connection.
